- The name means German turnip but its not a root vegie it’s a swollen stem, rich in anti oxidants.
- It might have a German name but it originates from the Kashmir region of central Asia. It has been grown in Europe for at least 500 years and Greeks love eating it raw with salt and olive oil.
- Kohlrabi can help improve overall metabolism and aid with weight loss.
- Kale is a rich source of antioxidants, widely believed to be the densest sources of all vegetables. It contains fibre, antioxidants, calcium, vitamins C and K, iron.
- Antioxidants help the body remove unwanted toxins that result from natural processes and environmental pressures.
- These toxins, known as free radicals, are unstable molecules. If too many build up in the body, they can lead to cell damage. This may result in health problems such as inflammation and diseases. Some experts believe these can cause various cancers.
- They are best planted in the autumn and winter and will grow all year round.
- The other great thing about Kale is it loves our hot dry climate and the hotter it is the more intense the beneficial nutrients are.
